FAQ

What You Need to Know

I hope I have already answered all your questions. If there are still some points that need further clarification, check out the list of the most common questions I receive below. Do let me know if you still require more information.

Pregnancy

How is a doula different from a midwife?

While both doulas and midwives support women during childbirth, their roles an responsibilities differ. A doula primarily offers emotional and physical support, whereas a midwife is a healthcare provider trained to manage the medical aspects of pregnancy, labor, and birth.

Does a doula replace my partner's role during childbirth?

No, a doula complements the support provided by the partner or other family
members. Doulas can guide partners in supporting the laboring mother and
ensure that they feel confident in their role.

Giving Birth

Can I have a doula if I'm planning a hospital birth?

Yes, doulas can support women in various birth settings, including hospitals,
birth centers, and home births. They can advocate for your preferences and help
create a more comfortable birthing environment.

When should I hire a doula?

It's best to hire a doula early in your pregnancy to establish a relationship and
benefit from their guidance throughout the pregnancy. However, we offer our
support at any stage of the pregnancy or labor.

Doula Support during Pregnancy

What are your interactions with medical staff like?

I maintain open communication with the healthcare team, ensuring that everyone
is informed and working together harmoniously. While I do not perform clinical
tasks or provide medical advice, I offer continuous emotional and physical
support to the birthing person, which can complement the medical care provided by the staff. Collaboration and mutual respect are essential in creating a positive
birthing environment where the birthing person feels supported, informed, and
empowered.
